THE PARTY Husband-and-wife team Stephen Alesch and Robin Standefer celebrated the launch of their first book, Things We Made (Rizzoli), at the Melrose Avenue boutique they frequented when they worked as set designers in L.A. 10 years ago. THE PLAYERS Frances Anderton, Ilana Gafni, Mori Onodera, Mossimo Giannulli, John C. Reilly, James Perse. THE HIGHLIGHTS Maxfield’s Tommy Perse asked Alesch and Standefer to curate a collection of his industrial objects in the boutique’s gallery for the party. Standefer and her husband made drawings of the way each item should be laid out. Guests gathered in the candlelit area dominated by a large skull made of chicken wire and a glowing metal arachnid. Rows of midcentury school chairs, desks and projections of the couple’s projects rounded out the scene. “We’re premeditated,” Standefer explained. “We always draw on paper but then when we get to the space, we can get very spontaneous.” Photos courtesy of Alex J.
