THE PARTY Guest of honor and multihyphenate artist James Franco was a veritable Oz, holding court during the Patron Reception at the L.A. Convention Center’s South Hall. The event, kicking off the weekend-long show featuring more than 100 galleries from around the world, was hosted by Ali Larter and Hayes MacArthur and benefited Art of Elysium. THE PLAYERS Shepard and Amanda Fairey, Bria Murphy, Eva LaRue, Kevin Nealon, Riley Smith, Jennifer Howell THE HIGHLIGHTS Shepard Fairey, in a shirt emblazoned with an Andy Warhol banana print, lured guests to the Paul Stolper Gallery booth to see a series of geometric prints he made using dust from black and white diamonds. And Fairey’s choice of attire was no coincidence; Warhol used the dust in his prints of women’s footwear. Beverly Hills’ Galerie Michael chose a more sedate (but still alluring) approach to attract guests, displaying an arresting series of Rembrandt etchings collected by Dr. Howard Berger. There was room for all comers at this art showcase, including David Arquette’s Jesus in ink, acrylic and spray paint called “Untitled,” 2012. Photos courtesy of Jen Lauren Grant Photography
