THE PARTY The commute from the Directors Guild of America was abuzz with chatter over director Sofia Coppola’s latest film foray, matched by anticipation for its post-screening soiree, staged at the Chateau Marmont. At the tony hotel nestled in the hills just below where most of the movie was shot, a varied cast of characters, including Gwen Stefani, ChloĆ« Sevigny and Emma Watson (playing against type as the film’s celeb-obsessed looter), gathered—all clad in ensembles befitting a rabid closet raid. THE SCENE Elegant “bellhops” donning Louis Vuitton uniforms escorted invitees into a tea-lit and hydrangea-dotted garden, where guests sipped mint juleps from silver cups and nibbled themed desserts like Cake Monkey Moguls (vanilla cake filled with caramel, topped with marshmallow frosting and toasted coconut). On the ones and twos inside, DJ Devin Lucien had the entire crew grooving well into the wee hours. THE HIGHLIGHTS In a twist on life imitating art, an actual victim of the Hollywood heists that inspired the film, Paris Hilton, posed playfully with two of the fictional teenage thieves, actors Katie Chang and Israel Broussard. Now that’s a memorable mug shot. Photography by Aleks Kocev, BFA agency
