Singing for a Cure

| May 13, 2015 | Parties

Between Seth Rogen’s congressional testimony and Oscar acclaim for the film Still Alice, this has been a phenomenal time for Alzheimer’s awareness—which will hopefully bring us closer to a cure. With a mission of celebration and support, the Alzheimer’s Association welcomed Hollywood glitterati to belt out Broadway’s best show tunes for A Night at Sardi’s benefit dinner at The Beverly Hilton. The evening’s hosts, Ben Feldman and Sarah Rafferty, joined a flock of stars on the main stage to pledge their support for the worthy cause and share heartfelt personal stories about the unyielding disease. Maria Shriver, the executive producer of Still Alice, described her father’s struggle with Alzheimer’s and read a poem she wrote called “Still Here.” Musician Joey McIntyre shared news of his mother’s recent passing from the disease and his appreciation of the patrons’ support, who helped raise $1.1 million for the charity. “My dad has always told me to give until it feels good, and that is what you guys have done tonight,” he said. Following a dinner of roasted chicken, the real show started. One by one, stars like Jason Alexander, Josh Gad and Jessica Sanchez took the stage to perform renditions of show tunes, which ran the gamut from Cabaret to Dream Girls. –Photos by Invision
