At Snyder Diamond, “It runs in the family” has proven to be a good thing. Founded in 1949 by Walter Diamond and Lou Snyder, what once was just an idea to offer decorative kitchen and bath offerings has grown to become a well-established, family-owned and operated company that will celebrate its 75th anniversary this year.

By the 1960s, Snyder Diamond had pioneered vignette-style showroom displays and began introducing cutting-edge kitchen and bath products at trade shows. A decade later, it redefined the one-stop showroom concept, offering everything from fridges, ranges and other kitchen appliances to toilets and tubs.

In the 1980s, Walter’s son, Russ Diamond, joined the company, infusing a global perspective that introduced renowned European kitchen and bath brands to the U.S. for the very first time. Now, as president, he continues the family’s commitment to innovation, quality and community impact. With three showrooms in the L.A. area and a newly opened fourth location in Solana Beach near San Diego, the company showcases more than 300 luxury brands, including Sub-Zero, Wolf, Thermador, Miele, Gaggenau, TOTO, Viking, California Faucets, Kallista, Fantini and Gessi within thoughtfully designed spaces like the 12,500-square-foot Van Nuys Showroom exterior by famed architect Richard Landry.
As the L.A. community has discovered over 75 years, Snyder Diamond is more than a business—it’s a multigenerational legacy that fosters strong relationships with clients, from contractors to interior designers, plumbers, architects and more. “Personally, this feels like a monumental accomplishment, but it really speaks to the legacy of the founders of the company who created an organization that’s cherished by employees, vendors and multi-generations of homeowners in our community,” Diamond says.

Remarkably, Snyder Diamond remains independently family-owned in an era where only 30% of family businesses reach a second generation. “Being one of the last family-run organizations in this industry is truly a testament to the relationships over the years; yes, we sell kitchen, bath and outdoor products—but we’re actually in the business of building and maintaining relationships,” he adds.

Snyder Diamond honors this tradition not only by supporting residential and commercial projects but also by investing in the architectural community. Partnerships with the Institute of Classical Art & Architecture (ICAA) and the Save Iconic Architecture (SIA) associations reflect the company’s dedication to preserving the beauty of design, old and new.

As the company toasts 75 successful years, they’re sticking to their tagline, “Always be first with what’s next.” With innovation at the forefront, we anticipate Snyder Diamond continuing to provide the latest and greatest design solutions in the industry, serving the Southern California community and beyond.
