Sandu founded Spatial Labs in 2019 on a quest to mesh the digital and physical worlds and enhance the human experience overall. His innovative concepts have already landed him collaborations with brands such as Rihanna’s Fenty, Beyoncé’s IVY PARK, Prada and Adidas. To note, he is one of the youngest founders in the technology space to raise an eight-figure seed round.

Qualified, to say the least, Angeleno couldn’t wait to get a first look at the just-opened Spatial Labs storefront in Culver City. The modern, open-floor-plan design draws onlookers to the “Circle,” a penny-sized chip that allows phone users to tap and discover the wearer’s profile. The profile that pops up is a combination of “tiles,” where users can post images, quotes, articles and even songs they’ve been listening to, to showcase a little more about themselves beyond their other social media profiles.

“In a world where our connections have become fragmented and often impersonal, Circle is reimagining how we share and preserve moments,” said Sandu. “It's not just about social networks; it’s about building a new interaction layer where everyday objects and experiences tell our stories in real time.”
If you see a Circle outside the store, it’s probably because someone’s wearing the new Core Powered by Circle collection—a simplistic, sustainable line of basics embedded with smart chip technology. The pieces, from crewneck sweatshirts to cargo sweatpants, come in a variety of neutral shades such as titanium, rust, carbon and moss.

Once you’re out in the real world, wearable technology encourages meeting others face-to-face and then connecting digitally. “It’s creating opportunities for everyone to showcase their lives in ways that feel more intimate, more authentic and ultimately more human,” he continued.
Sandu already has some exciting things in the works for Circle, such as exclusive brand collaborations you won’t want to miss. To stay in the loop on Spatial Labs’ current happenings or to shop Core Powered by Circle, click here.
