Spoke & Weal’s renovation has nearly doubled the salon’s square footage.
We’ve all been there. An overenthusiastic chop at the salon, momentary panic, gradual acceptance, and then a long and oftentimes awkward growing out period. Luckily, popular West Third Street salon Spoke & Weal has avoided those all-to-familiar growing pains. When master stylists Jon Reyman and Christine Thompson opened the Aveda salon in 2014 with a team of five hairdressers, it immediately gained traction for offering precise yet creative customized cuts and color in an unpretentious environment. Since then, it has seamlessly expanded at a rapid rate: There are now eight salons, in cities including New York, Chicago and San Francisco. Now, the L.A. location has gone through its own expansion and renovation, nearly doubling in size. New skylights and 16-foot raised ceilings drench the 4,800 square foot space in natural light, while more chairs, shampoo beds and an updated lounge area accommodate and elevate the experience overall. “After four years and a huge commitment from our key members, we became a team of over 30 pros operating seven days a week,” says Reyman. “Our success has come from the results we deliver day in and day out.”
