Throughout the pandemic, renowned DJ and Grammy nominated artist Steve Aoki made another name for himself. By live-streaming himself on YouTube opening Pokémon card packs, he not only amassed thousands of loyal fans and viewers, but he also has accumulated millions of dollars in cards.
For many, Pokémon was a beloved childhood card game with tons of TV shows and movies that was all about bringing friends together. Even with 25 years passing since it’s release in Japan, this card game still holds a special place in many people’s hearts. During a time of such great loss and confusion, people like Steve Aoki turned to this nostalgic game to bring some much-needed joy and peace into their life.
Now Aoki has partnered up with TCGplayer, the leading tech marketplace for trading card games and buying collectibles. The plan is to sell his $3 million's worth of curated high-value Pokémon inventory, along with his clothing, memorabilia, and hand-filled mystery boxes that give a chance to win meet-and-greet concert tickets.

Aoki’s journey with card collecting gave him a community during the loneliness of the pandemic.
“As my love for the hobby grew, I started thinking about new ways to bring the products that got me hooked on collecting to a community that has embraced me from the start," he explained. "This is exactly why I am so excited to partner with TCGplayer, which has given me the opportunity to bring the products I love to an even larger portion of the hobby community.”
CEO and founder of TCGplayer Chedy Hampson is just as happy to be a part of this relationship as well.
“I’m honored that he trusted TCGplayer to deliver the customer experience that fans have come to expect from him," Hampson said. "I’m excited to bring this one-of-a-kind collection to the TCGplayer marketplace and look forward to growing our partnership with Steve in the months to come!”
If you are interested in purchasing curated high-value Pokémon cards from Steve Aoki’s own personal collection, make sure to check out his vault on TCGplayer on Nov. 3. The multi-year partnership will periodically release new products in waves all the way through 2023, allowing everyone the chance at adding these collectible cards to their collections.
