While it’s been 24 years since Sugar Ray Leonard last stepped into the ring, the 1980s’ “Boxer of the Decade” is still pulling punches in other venues.
Leonard is currently selling his “championship” mansion, listing the home at a $46.5 million value. The mansion, located in celebrity haven Pacific Palisades, was built by Leonard and his wife Bernadette in 1993.

According to Forbes, the mansion was designed by famed architect Richard Landry, who has also designed other athletes’ homes including quarterback Tom Brady and hockey legend Wayne Gretzky. Landry was inspired by Florentine villas in Italy, finishing Leonard’s “championship” mansion with a terracotta roof and ivy-covered exterior.
There is certainly an international feel to the building, with floors imported from across Europe and several fireplaces shipped in from Jerusalem. The mansion was also designed with several rooms for entertaining guests, ready to host both small gatherings and “full-blown fundraisers,” as referred to by Top Ten Real Estate News.
Moving through the mansion, there are several luxurious amenities for potential buyers to consider, including a solarium, gym, screening room and two-story family room. Also of note is the furnished chef’s kitchen, which features professional-grade appliances, as well as a large central island countertop and breakfast bar that opens to the nearby family room.
The crown jewel of the facilities, however, is the grand primary suite. The main bedroom of the house includes multiple walk-in closets, a large bathroom, a fireplace in front of the bed and balconies in which to take in the view.
The grounds feature lush landscaping and opportunities for other activities, with tennis courts, a spa, putting green and a large swimming pool with a view of the entire estate. There’s also a guest house nearby the pool, which itself boasts two-floors and a large bedroom, as well as a first-floor entertainment area.
Beyond the gates of the sprawling grounds lies the community of Pacific Palisades, one of Southern California’s most coveted communities. In addition to playing host to some of the biggest names in Hollywood—Stephen Spielberg and Kate Hudson, for example—the area also hosts a cozy downtown area with restaurants and boutiques. The neighborhood enjoys easy access to some of Los Angeles’ best hiking trails, including Will Rogers State Park.
According to Forbes, the home is the most expensive property currently on sale in Pacific Palisades, an area in which the median price for a single-family home sits around $3.82 million. It also isn’t Leonard’s first time trying to shed the property, as he had previously listed the mansion at just less than $52 million in September 2019, but took it off the market just weeks later.
