To commemorate Sugarfish's 15-year anniversary, the beloved sushi restaurant has unveiled a celebratory tasting menu featuring 15 special bites. Available for just 15 days from Nov. 29 through Dec. 13 across all Los Angeles-area locations, the anniversary menu incorporates inventive dishes and new takes on classic presentations that Sugarfish has never served before, alongside reimagined versions of longtime guest favorites.
As Sugarfish founder Kazunori Nozawa continually proves with his restaurants, the essence of true sushi lies in its simplicity and purity. Since opening the first Sugarfish location in Marina Del Rey in 2008 to bring the traditional edomae sushi experience to Angelenos, Nozawa has stuck closely to the minimalist and uncomplicated Nozawa-style that first earned him acclaim decades ago as a world-renowned sushi chef in Japan. You'll find no Americanized rolls overloaded with spicy mayo or teriyaki sauce on the Sugarfish menu - just high-quality fish and rice crafted to highlight the natural flavors of the ingredients.
To celebrate 15 years of sharing edomae sushi technique with Southern California, the special anniversary tasting menu guides diners through 15 thoughtful bites that follow the traditional Sugarfish coursing. The celebratory multi-course meal commences with two orders of sashimi showcasing the fresh catch of the day, followed by two orders of nigiri sushi with two pieces each to savor the textures and tastes of different fish. Next comes a hand roll bursting with flavors, then two to three gunkan-style nigiri. After a Sunomono-style sashimi, guests enjoy three to four more nigiri selections before concluding the anniversary dinner with one final hand roll. Priced at $80 per person, the 15-year anniversary omakase promises something new while staying true to the Nozawa-style vision that has made Sugarfish an L.A. sushi destination for more than a decade.
