Sunset is back.
The modern clubhouse located below The West Hollywood Edition first exploded along the Sunset Strip back in 2019. Evoking the glamorous hedonism of Studio 54, the exclusive venue quickly became a celebrity hotspot and attracted the likes of Paris Hilton, Lucky Blue Smith, Winnie Harlow, Tracee Ellis Ross, Billie Idol and Winnie Harlow.
Shut down just six months later due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sunset will officially be open to the public starting March 18 just in time to get into the groove of spring.
The reintroduction marks the launch of Sunset’s weekly concept IT in partnership with Framework, a leader in unique underground experiences in Los Angeles. Taking place every Thursday from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., it fuses Sunset and Framework’s expertise as nightlife incubators that coalesce the worlds of music, art and fashion. The concept was first previewed on Feb. 24 with a special performance by DJ Harvey and will offer an unparalleled, unexpected experience each week.

Sunset’s reopening also includes the kick-off of LoveSexy every Friday. In homage to the Sunset Strip, each night will present a lineup of DJs from across music genres. It launched with a series of invite-only parties, including a surprise set from Diplo on Feb. 25, and will from there open to the public on Sunset’s aforementioned reopening date.
Guests can expect to dance the night away under an impressive art installation by Ian Schrager Company, which was executed by Guerin. Below 400 varying-sized disco balls, you can opt to spend the night on the dance floor or at the cocktail bar. The space also features 4,000 vinyl records, a billiard table, textured plaster walls with black oak flooring and a mix of rich velvet seating ideal for bottle service.
What’s more, The Sunset Room presents an intimate, private area with banquettes upholstered in green velvet and warm oak wood paneling on the walls. Contrasting to the main space’s discotheque vibrance, The Sunset Room is reminiscent of British 19th century private clubs and comes complete with a custom bar.
When Sunset first opened in November 2019, it brough next-level sets from Chaka Khan, Janelle Monae, Questlove and Samantha Ronson, among others. Music programming for Saturdays at Sunset will be revealed over time and will undoubtedly set high standards for nightlife across the city. However, to learn the weekly event lineup in advance, you’ll have to find your way on to its chosen Friends of Sunset list, who get to learn this coveted information via text message.
