Hollywood's forthcoming new members’ club and hotel, The Aster, will welcome Lemon Grove, an innovative new rooftop restaurant and bar, in August.
Inspired by the pre-industrialized Hollywood landscape, Lemon Grove will allow guests to experience the former simplicity of California in both atmosphere and food selection.
Rich earth tones and rustic wood decor will pair nicely with the farm-to-table, sustainable and purity-driven recipes that philanthropist, author and chef Sam Talbot worked diligently to create. Because of his own Type 1 Diabetes diagnosis, Talbot curated this menu to emphasize clean eating and has excluded any use of white sugar from Lemon Grove’s kitchen.
“Having relocated from New York City to L.A., I have fallen in love with the produce that California has to offer,” Talbot said. “The dishes we have created at Lemon Grove are hyper-focused on locality and seasonality— an ode to State Route 1. Having grown up in the Carolinas, my cuisine has southern nuances, with nods at Asian and Mediterranean cooking styles. Ultimately, our offering at Lemon Grove will be refreshing and overflowing with flavor.”
While the full lunch, brunch and dinner menus have yet to be released, some of Lemon Grove’s standout dishes will include snapper crudo with lemon ponzu, crisp capers; beluga lentils alla vodka with goats cheese and roasted vegetables; pizza with truffled salami, treviso pesto, grass-fed mozzarella and parmesan and green goddess salad with apples, kohlrabi and avocado.
Nothing pairs better with a great meal than the perfect drink, which is why beverage director Chris Whelan will work closely with Talbot to create complementing food and drink combinations. With exquisite cocktails tailored to Lemon Grove’s food menu and local, natural wine selections, guests will have no trouble finding a fabulous beverage. If alcohol isn’t your thing, this rooftop restaurant still has you covered with plenty of nonalcoholic beverages.
If you don’t have a club membership at The Aster, fear not. Lemon Grove will be open for the public to enjoy dinner and brunch regardless of membership status. However, lunch will be reserved for members and hotel guests.
