The Bazaar by José Andrés at SLS Hotel Beverly Hills is known for its whimsical foodstuffs, but it’s the confections at The Patisserie that really take the cake. Prepared tableside, each Dessert Graffiti board ($85) is not only a technical feat but also a vehicle for charity, with a portion of proceeds going to a different cause each month. December’s dessert theme, Holiday Piñata, features treats in homage to both José Andrés’ Spanish background and the Mexican heritage of head pastry chef Mitzi Reyes. Guests can expect edible delights including a piñata chocolate shell cracked open by chefs on a mirror, cherry pate de fruit, traditional Spanish cookies and more. Even better, a portion of proceeds for this month’s board go toward Children’s Hospital L.A. How sweet it is.
