Horsing Around
The Breeders’ Cup was a race day for the books.

More than 72,000 attendees looking to strike it rich came together for the 33rd annual Breeders’ Cup World Championships. Held at Santa Anita Park, the horse races drew the likes of Camilla Belle and Elizabeth Banks, who watched on as Arrogate beat crowd favorite California Chrome, taking home a $5.4 million purse.

The Trophy Room served as the exclusive VIP area, which was filled with celebrities who included Taylor Lautner and Susan Sarandon. Guests were treated to Tito’s Handmade Vodka cocktails in commemorative copper cups, as well as a lavish luncheon from Otium’s chef, Timothy Hollingsworth.

Actress Allison Janney presented the coveted trophy to Arrogate’s jockey, Mike Smith, who was elated with the win. “He’s relentless, this horse,” said Smith. “He doesn’t stop. He only ran five times, and he beat California Chrome. Incredible.” ‒Meg McGuire
