The Environmental Media Awards

| November 7, 2017 | Parties

THE PARTY Clad in fall florals and flowy cocktail attire, eco-chic altruists like Joey Graceffa and Emmanuelle Chriqui mingled inside Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar, which was transformed into an environmental-themed showroom of sorts for the annual EMAs. THE SCENE Following the buzzy cocktail hour that came complete with a PatrĂ³n open bar, guests were led to illuminated white tables that gave the room a soft glow as Ian Somerhalder, Nikki Reed and more sat down for a supper of stuffed roasted Japanese eggplant topped with chickpea polenta fritters, and a Californian artisan cheese selection for dessert. Meanwhile, a green-haired Jaden Smith served as host of the show, telling the crowd, “this is a night to effect change,” before introducing his sister, Willow, who performed two songs. THE HIGHLIGHTS Natalie Portman beamed as she took the stage following a touching introduction from friend Gina Rodriguez. “None of us will be able to live and work if we don’t have an environment in which to do it,” said Portman after accepting the Ongoing Commitment Award. We couldn’t agree more. -Brandi Fowler
