Gather your two closest friends and check out the immersive psychedelic pop-up celebrating the series premiere of The Freak Brothersright inside Fred Segal. It's open now until Jan. 15.
The Freak Brothers follows the adventures of three best friends: Freewheelin’ Frank (Woody Harrelson), Phineas (Pete Davidson) and Fat Freedy (John Goodman) and his cat, Kitty (Tiffany Haddish). The animated adult show depicts the shenanigans the trio gets into after accidentally time jumping from 1969 to 2020 after smoking magical weed, also known as the everlasting doobie. After waking up from their 50-year nap, they must navigate and adjust to this new confusing world where weed is legal. The series will be available on Tubi TV, with new episodes being dropped every Sunday until its finale on Dec. 26.
Staying similar to the show’s aesthetic, the pop-up has motifs of Haight Street’s psychedelic days with a Willy Wonka twist and 1960s/1970s vibrancy. At the store and online, fans will get the opportunity to buy limited-edition merchandise like sweatshirts, tie-dye t-shirts, pet CBD, hand-blown glass bongs, tote bags, hats and so much more. Also, there will be a real-life version of the friend’s basement where shoppers can take some groovy pictures.
The eight-episode show is based on a cult classic comic series that started in the 70s and over the years sold more than 45 million copies in 17 different languages. Among the mass following of fans is Jeff Lotman, the CEO & owner of Fred Segal.
“As a child of the ’60s and ’70s, I grew up reading ‘The Freak Brothers’ comics and their very smart stoner humor. It only makes sense that Fred Segal, which also started in the ’60s, should be the place where this very exciting rebirth will happen,” he said.
