The Giving Spirit

| April 5, 2016 | Parties

Aesthetes, philanthropists and society’s finest came together to support the Philanthropic Society Los Angeles’ mission to raise funds for the construction of the Children’s Institute Inc.’s Watts Campus. Designed pro bono by esteemed architect Frank Gehry, the Watts Campus will act as the nonprofit’s epicenter to protect and heal underprivileged children and families from violence.

Guests such as Tobey Maguire and Catt Sadler enjoyed a delicious dinner of a kale, goat cheese and hazelnut cream salad; seared beef tenderloin alongside a vegetable ragout; and a decadent dessert platter overflowing with chocolate espresso cookies and vanilla bean coconut macaroons.

Held at entrepreneur Alec Gores’ sprawling Beverly Hills estate, the charitable event raised more than $1 million for CII, honored Sutton and Christian Stracke with the Philanthropic Visionary Award and lauded contemporary artist Mark Bradford with the Artistic Visionary Award.
