The Kids Are Alright

A gala fĂȘting the 10th anniversary of the Boys & Girls Club of Malibu and honoring its VIP founders and members. The Party: Emceed by comedienne Elayne Boosler and held at the bluff-top Malibu estate of longtime supporters Liane and Richard Weintraub, the Hang Ten event raised more than $180,000 for the Boys & Girls Club of Malibu (BGCM), which provides ongoing support for community youth. The Players: Honorees Keely Brosnan, Mark Benjamin, Robyn Moore, and Lisa and William Curtis; celebrity guests and BGCM ambassadors Dorothy Lucey, Daniel Stern, Linda Thompson, Anthony Kiedis, John C. McGinley, and Tina and Fred Segal. The Highlights: From exotic coconut cocktails to performances by Tom Petty/Johnny Cash tribute band Petty Cash, legendary singer Johnny Rivers, and the Boys & Girls Club of Malibu Glee Club, the beach- and surf-themed affair was a party for the senses. The spectacular location proved a perfect setting for the occasion, which also recognized Violet Miehle, 17, a seven-year member of the BGCM, as recipient of the prestigious Youth of the Year award.
