The Museum of Contemporary Art Honored Jeff Koons with a Hot Pink Gala

| June 1, 2017 | Parties

THE PARTY Only Jeff Koons could unite Hollywood so seamlessly with the art world’s elite. The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles hosted a gala in the iconic artist’s honor, raising $3 million in the process. THE SCENE More than 600 partygoers filled the metallic magenta balloon-dotted dreamland, including Sharon Stone, Sean Penn and Ryan Seacrest. Philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad held court, while luminaries Doug Aitken and Alex Israel were among the more than 60 artists in attendance. Guests, including Wolfgang Puck, who catered the event, got to their feet for a performance by John Legend. THE HIGHLIGHTS Introduced by Pierce Brosnan, Koons expressed his love for L.A. following a short film on his career. “Marcel Duchamp has Philadelphia—that’s where they have the most condensed collection of his work—and I have Los Angeles,” he said. “If you’d like to view my work and interact with it, come to Los Angeles.” -Shontel Horne
