From the time the first flames broke out to the moment the fires were fully contained, the January events in Los Angeles kept the community on high alert. Here, Angeleno details the progression of the L.A. County wildfires—and the series of events that came with it—up until their ultimate conclusion.

• At 10:30 a.m., the first flame erupted in the woods near the Pacific Palisades.
• The first signs of the Eaton Fire in Altadena were detected around 6:45 p.m.

• A t 6 p.m. that evening, the Sunset Fire in the Hollywood Hills appeared in an instant.
• The Eaton Fire rendered 10,600 acres completely scorched by 10:55 p.m.
• The Palisades Fire showed no remorse, increasing to over 17,200 acres by 11:10 p.m.

• The morning of, the Los Angeles Unified School District closed all campuses for Jan. 9-10.
• Around 1 p.m., a civilian drone struck a SuperScooper by 10:55 p.m.
• The Palisades Fire showed no remorse, increasing to over 17,200 acres by 11:10 p.m. firefighting plane in the Palisades area.
• The Kenneth Fire caught wind in the West Hills at 3:34 p.m.
• By 4 p.m., the Sunset Fire was 100% contained and stretched 43 acres.

• By 8 a.m., the Palisades Fire had reached over 20,000 acres and was only 8% contained. The Eaton Fire had only 3% containment and covered 13,000 acres.

• The Kenneth Fire was fully contained around 7:48 a.m. on Jan. 12. It burned over 1,000 acres in total.

• The Hughes Fire hit Santa Clarita near Lake Castaic at 10:53 a.m.

• Thanks to a bout of rain in L.A. County, the Eaton Fire reached 95% containment at approximately 10:04 a.m.
