Just in time for the holiday shopping season, Toms and Wildfang have teamed up on their Toms x Wildfang collection that features each company’s signature pieces. It’s just the first of a multi-drop series that will run through 2022 and beyond.
Not only can you grab some sweet coveralls or Tom’s new Mallow slip-on shoes, but you’ll be supporting a great cause. Each purchase supports partners like ProjectQ, a Los Angeles-based organization that supports LGBTQ+ youth of color through services like gender-affirming haircuts and workshops that are all about self-empowerment, affirmative care and mutual aid.
“We partnered with Wildfang because of our shared values and knew that together we could make even more impact,” Toms Chief Marketing and Digital Officer Ian Stewart said.
We all know Toms for their easy-to-wear shoes. The footwear and lifestyle brand has long been known to be a community-forward company that has impacted lives around the world and committed a third of their profits to grassroots good. This collection only furthers that.
“We are honored to partner with LA-based ProjectQ and their founder Madin Lopez in their efforts to support LGBTQ+ youth through a gender affirming mobile hair salon and self-empowerment programs,” Amy Smith said, who serves as Toms’ chief strategy and impact officer. “What ProjectQ is doing is incredibly innovative and truly amazing. It’s important to us to engage with those that are on the ground and know what the people they serve need most, and we’re proud this is happening in TOMS own backyard here in Los Angeles.”
As for the Portland-based Wildfang, the growing fashion-lifestyle brand’s primary mission is to challenge gender norms in all facets of life, including clothes. They act on this by offering gender-fluid styles like the aforementioned coveralls, in addition to blazers and button ups.
Toms X Wildfang evokes the idea that you are pure gold just the way you are. Featuring neutral tones like blue and brown, the collection’s pieces pop with dashes of yellow to remind wearers of Toms’ and Wildfang’s special "Precious Mettle" message.
“From the second we met the team at ProjectQ, we knew we wanted to do something together,” Wildfang CEO Emma McIlroy said. “Our missions and values are 100% aligned and Madin is a force. The support, services, and community they bring to queer folx dealing with housing insecurities and other challenges is so incredibly inspiring. ProjectQ is honored within the collaboration design, the term ‘Precious Mettle’ is woven throughout the pieces to signify the strength it takes to stay true to yourself.”
