“Expanding to the West Coast is a long-awaited and much anticipated moment for us,” says New York-based designer Ulla Johnson, who recently opened the doors to her first L.A. boutique this June. “We have deep roots in L.A. both in terms of our vibe and our woman.” Located on Beverly Blvd. in Stella McCartney’s former space, the boutique—with interiors by Kelly Wearstler and gardens designed by Miranda Brooks—houses the brand’s complete pre-fall 2023 collection, including ready-to-wear, bags, shoes, jewelry and premium denim, the latter all made locally in L.A. There are also seasonal and limited-edition pieces designed exclusively for the store. “The store is an oasis from which you can see the surrounding mountains,” Johnson shares. “Entering the space is a transportative experience; you feel that it lifts and holds you. It was important to celebrate this store with the makers that were local to the community and to have something that really speaks to L.A.” ullajohnson.com

The South of France has officially arrived in L.A. via the Dioriviera pop-up at The Beverly Hills Hotel. Dior has taken over the pool at the resort through September 4, with pink-and-gray Dior surf-inspired cabins surrounding the boutique entrance. Inside the sandcastle-inspired shop is this year’s Dioriviera capsule collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri, featuring pieces (skirts, dresses, shorts, swimsuits, silk scarves, bags, shoes and hats) in Dior’s toile de Jouy print and bayadere stripes, alongside whimsical life-sized animals, plants and flowers. Dior maison essentials, like a Christian Dior surfboard, embroidered cushions and more are also available. Adding the allure is the Le Jard Des Rêves Dior Spa Cabana, where hotel guests can exclusively reserve treatments. If that weren’t enough guests lounging poolside can enjoy the pink and gray toile de Jouy decor and a Dior ice cream cart that serves refreshment to all guests on the weekends. When Gucci founder Guccio Gucci’s son Aldo ran the brand’s Beverly Hills store in the 1970s, he created a space above the boutique called the Gucci Galleria. Available to select clientele via a crystal-and-bronze elevator and opened by a leather-wrapped brass key, the space was imagined to be the most luxurious place to shop in the world. The brand’s first stand-alone Gucci Salon on Melrose Place reflects that ethos. Showcasing some of the house’s most exquisite custom gowns and unique, one-of-a-kind pieces, the boutique offers bespoke suiting, dazzling high jewelry, rare fragrances, luxurious customizable garments and accessories crafted from precious leathers —or embellished with crystals, diamonds or 18-carat gold. The dramatic and colorful decor by Gideon Ponte was inspired by film design. “I love how Hollywood still has traces of its past,” he says. “I remember watching the Oscars in the seventies; everyone was so stylish back then... I wanted to bring those feelings back to life.” gucci.com
