Booking medspa appointments can be difficult for customers looking to keep up their routine. It’s something Tiffany Faith Demers knows all too well, which is why she launched Upkeep, the first digital marketplace in the U.S. that provides on-demand medspa treatments in your area. Upkeep is already in Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, Malibu, Miami and Palm Beach, and soon, they’ll expand to New York, followed by Texas, Northern California and Arizona. As Upkeep makes its way across the country, Demers spoke with Modern Luxury about the booming medical aesthetics industry and launching her business.
You went on a London work trip where you tirelessly called around with no visibility into availability for a facial. How did this moment impact you enough that you were inspired to start Upkeep?
I was on a work trip where I was hoping to receive a Hydrafacial at 6:30pm that evening in an Uber in between meetings with two colleagues, no time to search Google or call around to different medspas. I realized that nothing existed to make this process more streamlined, and I knew that there had to be a better way!
When I returned home to L.A., I began researching how cosmetic dermatology treatments like botox, filler and body contouring were procured and confirmed and that it was only via call or text. I knew an easier solution could be built, and I wanted to be the one to make that happen.
Tell us more about Upkeep! What makes it better than a quick call to a receptionist?
Upkeep is the first digital marketplace in the United States to provide on-demand medspa treatments in your area with availability that accommodates your life. The first app to book all your medical aesthetics needs from Botox, filler, body contour, Next-Gen Facials and more. We are reinventing the way people book medspa treatments and offering them the first vetted, trusted platform to take your appointment booking into your own hands rather than having to rely on a receptionist who may or may not have availability or even pick up your call.
It truly gives you the tool of efficiency with a simple process of an easy-to-use interface: select your appointment on your own schedule so you never have to stress!
And what about the other end of services— why is Upkeep beneficial for medspa professionals?
Our partners benefit from receiving our stamp of approval to join. The vetting process is extremely strict and we only work with the best of the best. Once accepted, the medspas receive a direct connection to new clientele booking through us, so it’s a very lucrative opportunity. Our medspa partners love us! Some have even hired into their practice to keep up with the demand we generate.
Medical aesthetics are more popular than ever. Why do you think this is such a rapidly growing industry and how does Upkeep respond to this?
Medical aesthetics has always been a popular industry, but for many years it was considered taboo to talk about procedures. Even botox was widely considered as something to hide from your significant other! In recent years, thanks to people opening up on social media and celebrities documenting their experiences, the script has flipped to an extent. Gen Z now likens medical procedures to the new color cosmetic– something to change up depending on your mood or refresh/change your look.
With Upkeep, we want to empower our clients to take their medical aesthetics into their own hands by utilizing our digital marketplace in the rapidly increasing $25B (in the US, globally $73B) medical aesthetics industry. We want to normalize the use of the treatments and encourage everyone to try whatever they desire.
You previously worked for companies like companies such as Matrix, WESSCO and M-Theory Group. How have you carried that experience into your Upkeep endeavors?
I was fortunate to work with fantastic companies across luxury, beauty and tech and to have held a wide variety of roles, ranging from overseeing creative, marketing, operational, influencer and engineering teams. While this experience was amazing, at my core I am an entrepreneur. Having personal experience and insights into so many different aspects of the business, I knew I could execute the vision for Upkeep and hire the right team members to grow quickly to create a new category.

What feedback have you gotten from Upkeep users— what do they love about the app?
The best part of running Upkeep is hearing all the positive customer feedback! We get so many positive messages about how easy the app is to use and how much people love their treatments: “This is the best lip filler I have ever had in five years of getting it,” and “I love the flexibility of turning it on bi-coastal and not worrying about struggling to find vetted places to book my facials in new areas.” A jaw filler client wrote a message saying we “literally changed his life!” The Upkeep client is at the heart of everything we do and what makes the long weekends and burning the midnight work oil on late nights worth it!
Is there anything else important to know about Upkeep?
We can’t wait to bring our passion for empowerment to all by building our community nationwide. Our mission is to bring transparency to a highly cloaked and confusing industry and get Upkeep’s vetted, curated, luxury, easy-to-book medspa app in the hands of every user on our waitlist!
