Why travel halfway around the world when you could just cruise down the 110 for an Oktoberfest celebration?
On Oct. 16, Vegan Oktoberfest takes over Los Angeles Center Studios from noon to 5 p.m. for a day of music, costumes, vegan food and plenty of beer. Guests will have the option to choose from more than 20 breweries and 15 vegan food vendors. While sipping on a cold one and munching away, you’ll be able to enjoy live Oompah music or participate in a stein holding contest.
As the world’s first Oktoberfest to bring a vegan twist to the traditional celebration, the event will no doubt live up to the evolved cuisine expectations of the city’s vegan-inclined culture. What’s more, it’s all for a good purpose. Portions of event proceeds will go to benefit Expand Animal Rights Now.
“Vegan Oktoberfest first made its debut in 2014. Each year we’ve held this event, we’ve received positive feedback and have seen a large turnout of attendees from all over Southern California,” event co-producer Crystal Kozlak said. “As one of the most anticipated vegan food festivals, we couldn’t be more thrilled to bring back Vegan Oktoberfest this year, with more and better food vendors and entertainment than ever before, all while supporting a worthy cause.”

Vegan foodies have the option to pick from three types of tickets: $70 for VIP admission, $50 for general admission and $20 for non-drinkers. The top tier includes early access to the festival and exclusive lounge area with special German beer. Both general and VIP options offer three full beer pours, unlimited beer samples and a take-home Vegan Oktoberfest beer stein. Tickets will not be sold at the door.
Aside from all the eating and drinking, entertainment will come from the Munich Boomsteiners, yodeler Kathrin Jackob and cover band Knyght Ryder. Attendees can also join in on the fun by competing in costume, stein holding and yodeling contests for various prizes.
Surely your mouth is watering thinking about the (vegan) bratwurst you’ll be able to devour, with some homemade mustard and sauerkraut, of course. The food lineup features Southern California’s most beloved vegan eateries, meaning you’re in for quite the feast. Even better is the vendors are committed to the Oktoberfest experience; each is required to offer at least one vegan German or European menu item. See the full lineup below.
