Born and raised in Los Angeles, Darius Khonsary of Darius Jewels was always surrounded by jewelry. "My mother has an incredible collection of antique heirloom pieces from Iran," she says. "I have always been very connected to jewelry and am specifically interested in the magical qualities that metals and gemstones possess," says Khonsary, who is launching her line at Bergdorf Goodman this fall. Beyond looking beautiful, Khonsary's handmade pieces—inspired by her Persian heritage and adorned with symbols—are unique in how they connect in a deeper, more meaningful way. A chance visit to a fifth-generation milliner in Vitoria, Spain, inspired Mexico-born Gladys Tamez to start her eponymous hat business. "I saw a void in the handmade luxury hat space that had the balance of modernity and classics," she says. Now, the Silver Lake resident is considered one of the best in the business for custom toppers, and has attracted notables like Lady Gaga, Kendall Jenner and Beyoncé to wear her creations on repeat.
