Sustainable Fashion Expert & Founder of Nikki Green, shopnikkigreen.com
When sustainability expert and serial entrepreneur Dominique Side couldn’t find a conscious ready-to-wear line that suited her needs—chic, luxurious and 100% vegan—she decided to take matters into her own hands. “In January 2022, I decided it was time to develop a vegan luxury clothing line to solve an issue I was having as a consumer,” she says. “I was frustrated by the lack of variety in higher-end options that are truly 100% vegan.” Side tapped her longtime stylist, Christian Allen, and the two worked together to launch Nikki Green earlier this year. Consisting of ready-to-wear gowns, tops, pants, denim and accessories, the collection is enhanced by custom hardware and bodycon cuts. “The look and feel reflect me personally and the range I have in my various roles,” says Side, who shares that her style ranges from uber-relaxed to red carpet. “Some pieces depict DOM the artist, and some reflect Dominique the executive.” Regardless, the entire Nikki Green line—available to view by appointment at the brand’s DTLA studio—delivers luxury with a conscious. “The priority is that it is vegan... but nuanced,” she explains. “I want people to feel as high-end in Nikki Green as they do in Dior.”

Owner and Designer, Lizzie Mandler Fine Jewelry, lizziemandler.com
“I love the power jewelry has; it is so incredibly intimate and personal; it holds some of our lives’ most important memories and most cherished relationships,” says Lizzie Mandler, who recently opened her eponymous jewelry boutique on bustling Sycamore Ave. Encouraged by her artistic family to explore jewelry design as a teenager, Mandler dove deep into metalsmithing after losing her mother at age 16. “I immediately knew I had found what I wanted to spend my life doing,” she shares. Mandler officially launched her line in 2012 and opened the doors to her boutique this spring. “Building a store felt like the way I could meet the intimacy of the medium with an embrace and honor what [it] really means to me,” she explains. The inviting space carries Mandler's fine jewelry and a curated selection of books vintage objects and home goods. As for her own style, Mandler keeps it simple, mostly wearing black. “I do it for two reasons,” she says. “One is that at the end of the day, I am a canvas for my pieces... [and two] is that I believe that dressing in monochrome can be more complex and interesting than bold colors and prints. When color is removed, you’re left with the details of your pieces.”

NATALIE BLOOMINGDALE PHOTO BY MORGAN PANSING
Natalie Bloomingdale, Founder, The SIL, thesilshop.com
Natalie Bloomingdale started the online boutique The SIL in 2017 to give exposure to emerging designers and brands without an e-commerce presence. “We have evolved in many ways while staying true to our original intent: existing as an e-commerce platform for exclusives, meaning what’s on The SIL can’t be found anywhere else on the internet,” she says. This September, Bloomingdale will present a collaborative collection inspired by one of her local haunts, The Beverly Hills Hotel, with a trunk show scheduled at one of the storied bungalows. “The Beverly Hills Hotel is the creation of a remarkable woman, Margaret Jane Anderson. Over a century ago, her drive and ambition paved the way for the establishment of the hotel that was key to the launch of Beverly Hills itself, attracting the attention of land investors and putting the fiedgling city in the national spotlight,” Bloomingdale explains, noting that the collection’s designs by women-owned brands like Tyler Ellis, Autumn Adeigbo, Keehn Deutch and more salute Anderson and the example she set for future generations of strong, independent women. “This capsule seamlessly blends opulent fabrics, delicate embellishments and captivating silhouettes, capturing the essence of Hollywood’s golden era while adding a modern twist.”

DR. DEEPIKA CHOPRA PHOTO BY ANGELICA MARIE PHOTOGRAPHY
The Optimism Doctor, drdeepikachopra.com; Founder, Things Are Looking Up, allthingsarelookingup.com
It may be surprising to learn that Dr. Deepika Chopra started her career in A&R at a punk label before completing her master’s and doctorate degrees in the science of optimism, eventually earning the title the Optimism Doctor. “If there’s one statement that’s defined my career thus far, it’s don’t be afraid to explore possibilities, even if it means starting from scratch,” she says. “It’s not always easy, but I try to push myself to embrace the challenges, trust my own strengths, follow my curiosities and leave a lot of room for hope.” She doesn’t practice with individual clients as much these days. Still, Chopra’s optimistic messaging can be found on a larger scale in her collaborations with companies in various categories, from beauty to fashion to tech and healthcare. She created Things Are Looking Up, a deck of optimism cards based on her practice’s tips and tools a few years ago, and plans to launch a version for kids this September. “The prompts are based on the same holistic and science-based practices but more geared towards and tailored to kids,” says Chopra, who dresses in comfortable clothes that are classic, minimal and slightly edgy. “As a mom of two young boys, I’ve been very committed and motivated to help increase the optimism and mental health of children, especially in our current state of the world.”
