What’s better than an impeccable craft cocktail from Tao? One that celebrates Women’s History Month.
Launching on International Women’s Day on March 8, Tao Los Angeles will offer specialty cocktails inspired by some of history’s most remarkable women. If you’re busy on Tuesday, don’t fret. The specialty beverages will be available all month long.
What’s more, these cocktails will be available at every Tao Asian Bistro across the country and will benefit local charities that support women’s empowerment. One dollar from each drink goes toward the good cause.
More than just an honorable commemoration, the cocktails were also created by women. Tao Group Hospitality’s Megan Ardizoni (vice president of beverage, East) and Erin Davey (corporate beverage manager) came together to create three expert-crafted cocktails that tell the story of women that represent Tao’s rich Asian culture.
Mezcal fans can opt for the Cecilia Chung-celebrating cocktail. Made with white rum mezcal, it also includes coconut cream, taro syrup and lime juice. The aim was to deliver a flavor just as complex and distinct as Chung, a driven activist who fights for LGBT rights, HIV/AIDS awareness, health advocacy and social justice.
Literature enthusiasts should order the Murasaki Shikib. Honoring the Japanese novelist and poet who wrote The Tale of Genji, the cocktail features Irish whisky, Aperol bitters, passionfruit, lime and mango-pineapple syrup to capture Shikib’s lush and creative spirit.
To round out the menu, Tao’s third cocktail celebrates Chien-Shiung Wu’s great impact on the world of science. Inspired by the nuclear and particle physicist’s experimental and innovative legacy, the gin-based beverage includes blanc vermouth, clarified tomato water, raspberry shrub and sparkling wine.
In addition to Angelenos, guests at the Tao Asian Bistro locations in New York, Chicago, Las Vegas and Connecticut can enjoy the women-inspired specialty cocktails. They will also be available internationally at Hakkasan Mayfair and Hanway Place, Yauatcha City and Soho.
Tao Los Angeles is located at 6421 Selma Ave. 90028.
