THE PARTY The third annual Change Begins Within benefit gala at LACMA, hosted by the David Lynch Foundation in support of Transcendental Meditation (TM) THE PLAYERS Hosts David Lynch, Ellen DeGeneres, Russell Brand and Russell Simmons; guests Katy Perry, Kimora Lee Simmons, Djimon Hounsou, Angela Simmons, Kristen Bell, Dax Shepard, Justin Chatwin, Thomas Jane, Joe Walsh, Cheech Marin, Laura Dern, Al Jardine, Bill Duke THE HIGHLIGHTS A fun-filled comedy act by Brand had the serenity-seeking crowd in stitches and was followed by speeches from empowering veterans and underserved youth who have transformed their lives through TM, a specific form of mantra meditation. BEST IN SHOW Russell Simmons received the Enlightened Giver Award for his contributions to the foundation while Lynch was awarded by the City Council for his foundation’s efforts to teach meditation and other rehabilitative programs.
